Up-to-date in 2009:
Dec.- The calendar 2010 is online!

Dec.- New model for the Euro-Cup of clubs from 2011 on:
To promote pétanque throughout Europe and especially the smaller pétanque federations, I suggest a new model for the euro-cup:
a) Every federation send 1 (one) team only to the international tournament.
b) Any federation can be candidate for hosting the euro-cup finals held each year in week 48.
c) Every year on our annual congress, the delegates vote for the host candidates for coming years (at the congress 2010 we vote for hosting federation for euro-cup finals in 2011and in 2011 we vote for 2012 etc.......)
d) In the invitation for our Congress we ask the candidates to inform our General Secretary 2 weeks before the congress (next time august 2010 in Ljubljana)
e) The CEP offers the hosting federation 4000 euro, and VERY IMPORTANT the hosting federation are allowed to send their best club team to the final.
f) In week 30 every year we find the 12 best teams of all participating club teams, and in week 40 every year we find the 3 best of the 12 teams from week 30, to go into the final in week 48 together with the team from the hosting federation. The draw will be made as usual on our spring-meeting in April.
g) This year (2009) we will play the finals in Nice, and we will ask the winner to be the host for 2010 (with 4000 euro from CEP and SECURED Participation in the final 2010)
Best regards,
Flemming JENSIN
President CEP

Jul.- European Championship for Men 2009
Dear Presidents,
here are the last information, before we meet in Nice.
The Congress and the drawing of groups will be at the hotel Plaza, Avenue de Verdun 12, 06000 Nice,
on Thursday 23rd July from 16.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.
As you all know, there will be a A-European Championship for the 2 best teams in each 8 groups,
and the rest will play for a B-European Championship. There will be NO Nations Cup.
This information can you find on our website www.cep-petanque.com as well.
The 16 federations from A-EC and the 8 best federations from B-EC will be invited to the World Championship
in 2010 by the FIPJP. However it is very likely that France will have their 2 teams among the 24 best,
and as France is the WC title holders, they are already invited to Taiwan in 2010.
If it is so, the 4 federations who are no. 3 in the B-EC groups (there will be 4 groups) will play 1 (one) match
to qualify for the WC as no. 23 and no. 24.
We will review this information very carefully on the congress, and it is my hope that you all will be present
(or at least the Delegation Leader, if you are not present yourself).
Finally I will ask the Federations, who have not yet paid their fee to the CEP for 2009,
to pay the fees cash on the congress to the treasurer Klaus ESCHBACH, thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Flemming JENSIN
President CEP

Apr.- European Championship for Men 2009 – Triples World Championship 2010
In the next few weeks member nations of the Confédération Européenne de Pétanque (CEP) will receive an invitation from the French Federation (FFPJP) to register and take part in the CEP’s new Championship for Men.
This is a triples tournament which will include a shooting championship; we are working on the programme right now and expect the European Congress to be on Thursday 23rd July with the competition starting either that evening or on the 24th July through to the 26th.
Unlike the World Championship your costs, accommodation, meals etc are your own responsibility.
The hosts do not pay for you.
The FIPJP have recently informed us of their decision that for the 2010 ‘Triples’ World Championship nations will now be required to qualify through the continents, in our case the CEP.
For this to work we will use the “Men’s” European Championship to decide which of the 24 nations (not including the World Champions) will qualify.
The important point to make here is the Nation qualifies not the team, how each qualifying nation selects their team is up to them.
To take part in the CEP European Championship for Men 2009 you must be a paid up member of the CEP and FIPJP.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Nice in July
Regards
Mike Pegg – Vice President
Confédération Européenne de Pétanque (CEP)

Dear Presidents,
The FIPJP established that there will be no World Championship Petanque
Open in 2009. The next World Championship Petanque Open will be in 2010.
The FIPJP tries to organize a World Championship Petanque for Women in
2009.
The Confédération Européenne de Petanque (CEP) informs you that there
will not be an European Championship Petanque for Women in 2009 as
foreseen in Tel Aviv. But there will be the first European Championship
for Men (!) from the 24 26 July in Nice (France).
The European Federations will also receive an invitation from Club DUC
to participate with their national team to the great event Euro Petanque
2009 in Nice just one week before the European Championship for men.
Detailed information will follow.
